PRÉCIS

Terms of Service

Effective October 22, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Tenzin Lhakpa, an individual based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, operating as "Précis" ("Précis", "we", "us"). They cover the Précis browser extension, its backend service and its paid subscriptions (together, "the Service"). By installing or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. The Service

Précis summarizes the web page you are reading and answers follow-up questions about it, using an AI model. You choose when to ask for a summary or ask a question; Précis reads the page in your browser and sends its content to our backend to produce the result. How we handle that data is described in our Privacy Policy.

AI output can be wrong. Summaries and answers are generated automatically and may be incomplete, inaccurate or out of date. Don't rely on them for medical, legal, financial or other important decisions; check anything important against the original page.

2. Your account

3. The free plan

4. Subscriptions

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Précis only reads what your browser shows you. It does not get around paywalls or logins, and you are responsible for having the right to access the pages you use it on.

"Unlimited" means no set cap on summaries for normal personal use. To protect the Service for everyone, we may limit or suspend usage that is automated, abusive, or far beyond what an individual could reasonably use.

6. Your content

Page content, questions and answers stay yours. You give us permission to process them only to provide the Service to you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You may use the summaries and answers Précis gives you for any lawful purpose.

7. Our rights

The Précis extension, website, name and logo belong to us. These terms don't give you any rights to them other than to use the Service as described here.

8. Changes and availability

We work to keep the Service available and useful, but we may change, suspend or stop features, or the whole Service, at any time. If we permanently stop the paid Service, we'll refund the unused part of any prepaid subscription period.

9. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and cancelling any subscription. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. If we end your access without cause, we'll refund the unused part of your current paid period.

10. Disclaimer

To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$10 if you haven't paid us anything.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived by contract.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Toronto, Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute, unless the consumer protection laws of the place you live give you the right to bring a claim there.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we'll give notice in the extension or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
